A Rainbow of Possibilities

I just came back form the Million Gay March in Dallas. The heat was incredible, around 105 degrees. As I marched, I thought of all those who marched for equal rights for the last 40 years. Four decades ago riots broke in Greenwich Village, New York after a gay bar was raided by the police. This has been identified as the starting point for the struggle for equality for Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual and transgendered people in the United States. The rainbow flag, symbol of the diversity in our community, was flying high and proud today. We are not celebrating our sexual identity or orientation. We celebrate the fact that we have chosen freedom over persecution, dignity over oppression and Love above all. May future generations never have to struggle and suffer in order to embrace who they really are, human beings, loving beings. I say Amen to that!

Yay! So glad to know you were there, celebrating life...we have to make the most of our moments, they are all we have.

Lovely photograph-an inspiration. I can just see you proudly marching. I marched here in Condado, too. I think we all need to support each other...straight and gay. I'm so proud of you and your courage. I feel as if your walk is also a walk for my mother and her partner who were both killed in a hate crime-as you know.

I wish my mother were still alive and I could introduce you to her. She would have appreciated all that you have to offer; your intelligence, your artistic ability, and your sensitivity.

BTW I gave you an award over at Oasis Writing Link (OWL) blog. Come over and read about the importance of dreams. Love to you, friend <3

Hello Pink
What a wonderful photo and post. I am visiting with my nephew this week who is aftive in Ohio Gay Pride and whose life I see as a statement to celebrating the freedom to be.

A rainbow of possibilities is totally realistic and the growing probability for this and future generations

Good on you, mate. Some people forget that fighting for gay rights is not just fighting for the rights of a minority, but fighting for everyone's human and civil rights, too.

Greetings from London.

And I was also saying AMEN! We had the parade here in Houston Saturday night but it was nothing like this. I just became an ordained interfaith minister who's goal is to LEGALLY marry my GLBTQ brothers and sisters. I know the day will come but to me it's absolutely tragic that it's even an ISSUE. I join you in the march. Love, Syd

Beautiful thoughts, beautiful photo from a beautiful soul. I read about the events all over the country and hope that the time of acceptance comes sooner than we could even expect or hope.

I did just post my photos of the SF, too, and going through them makes me happy and sad at the same time.

I second that emotion. Lovely blog and very well said.

Having moved a year ago from Dallas, I am missing my dear friends and going to the parade. The gay community here is not so active and vibrant as it is in Dallas. I do miss it so. *sigh*

I support gay rights, I have a gay friend who has a quote on his myspace that I think is funny "If people are so worried about us, they should stop having gay babies." (a point is made saying, it's not a choice, it;s who you are. :)
