OMG! I Almost Erased My Whole Blog Kind Of Day.

Could anybody out there direct me to a good idiot-proof guide to changing your blog background and header? I was trying to add texture and design to this my most beloved blog. I tried to do it using the Edit HTML tab, then I erased everything. After 40 minutes of pure agony I managed to retrieve a saved template. I almost ate a whole box of chocolate to deal with the anxiety attack. I manage my nerves using chocolate. So, beloved followers and visitors, would you be darlings and help this poor soul?
PS. Thank You Lucy for being there for me.

I about had a heart attack the other day when I was messing with mine, too. I thought I lost all my posts...I did lose my 3 columns. Boo. Hiss.

Great Lucy photo.

No more fiddling, we don't want to lose you! That would be a disaster! No I have no idea either...sorry.

I'm telling you no more "chasing waterfalls" I'm sticking to the plain old template. I might take a course or two at Blog University if it ever gets started. Do they have blogger's conventions? I wonder. Thanks Syeph for the link.

Sorry about your blog disaster's nearness...but it happens to the best and worst of us...what to do? We're all in the trial and error school of blogging. Your blog is pretty...dramatic...maybe you could make a copy blog and play with that for your school of blogging? Then when you learn interesting tidbits post them on the sidebar for those poor blog fiddlers who suffer from the latest look angst. (Such as myself.)

I love the expression on the red hair/red lipped Lucy...the first clueless/clever girl. I'm so glad the Pink Cowboy's legacy is saved! <3

How horrendous, Pink Cowboy! I have no techological advice on this, but I'll certainly not try to change my template.

I shall follow your lead and eat lots of chocolate!

If you have a google account you can have all your columns e-mailed through to your inbox. Which reminds me. I have never done it.

Nice to have you back. Did they give your blog cyber-mouth-to-mouth resuscitation? :-)

greetings from London.

Well! Being the uber-conservative blogger I am, I have a test blog that I try EVERYTHING major on first. Before I play with HTML, I always back up the original code first. It saves it in a file on my desktop should I, heaven forbid, need to start over!

Lucy's expression, by the way, is so rich! I've been there! :-)

Oh no! That would have been a horrifically bad thing to do. When bad computer things happen to me, I automatically play an Eddie Izzard routine in my head. It's probably the best computer related comedy monologue I've ever seen:

Of course, Lucy would have done a great episode about computers, if she was around today. Bless her heart, and yours.

I'm glad things worked out for you... chocolate can only do so much!

I did exactly the same thing a few months back! It scared the bejesus out of me! I sweated bullets and my hands were shaking so much that I could hardly restructure my blog. I am totally scared to death to try any new template again. Ever.

The Lucy pic is hysterical, PC. Not having a blog (yet), I can only imagine the type of terror this must have struck. I am always so impressed with how everyone has such varied looks to their blogs and am amazed when some people change theirs with great regularity. Glad you found your footing again... and VERY glad you relied on chocolate as the ultimate in First-Aid!!

This is the first I've decided to visit your page (seen several of your comments on others pages)I'm not much help in the technology department but I now understand why your blog is a favorite for a lot of people on this blogging community- your funny as hell! I died laughing at the picture you chose and the headline for this post.

I do know how exactly how you feel at the thought of losing something you've been working on though, a few weeks back my boss broke my jump drive that had my entire book on it that I've been working on for 2 years now.
